Shadows in the Rain: A Tale of Old Klamath, California. (R. Joe King - Blue Traveler Press, 2007). FIRST EDITION. LIMITED TO 1000 COPIES. 2008 SPUR AWARD FINALIST.
Vince Jennings arrived in Klamath, California without a job, a place to live, and his life’s possessions tied to the back of his motorcycle. He soon had a job at the local lumber mill, learned the tricky art of being a fishing guide at Requa and found himself a part of an exclusive and mysterious Yurok council of elders.
Befriended by Eddie Young Man, they discovered that they shared the same problem — trying to live their lives as part of two conflicting cultures. Both were seeking life’s answers when the torrential rains of 1964 besieged the Pacific Northwest. A flood of mammoth proportions would change their lives forever, wiping Klamath from the face of the earth. Shadows is classified as fiction but is based on the first-hand experiences of the author.
